I’M AN EDUCATOR BY TRADE AND WRITER BY CHOICE. AFTER TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL HISTORY FOR A FEW YEARS, I FOUND THAT I WAS CONSISTENTLY DRAWN TO WRITING—IN AND OUT OF THE CLASSROOM. I STARTED WRITING ON WEEKENDS AND IN STOLEN MOMENTS WHILE ALSO GETTING ON STAGE AS A STANDUP COMEDIAN.
IN 2017 I LEFT THE CLASSROOM TO MOVE TO NEW YORK CITY AND PURSUE WRITING AND COMEDY FULL-TIME. JUST A YEAR LATER, I PUBLISHED MY FIRST MEMOIR “I’LL BE OK, IT’S JUST A HOLE IN MY HEAD” AND BEGAN TEACHING WRITING CLASSES IN BROOKLYN.
AFTER PUBLISHING, WHAT STRUCK ME WAS JUST HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WANTED TO WRITE AND PUBLISH THEIR OWN BOOKS. I SPENT HOURS IN COFFEE SHOPS WITH FELLOW WRITERS, SHARING MY EXPERIENCES AS A NEW AUTHOR. I SIMPLY LOVED TALKING SHOP WITH WRITERS!
SO AFTER YEARS OF DELIBERATING, I FINALLY MADE THE LEAP TO START MY OWN BUSINESS…AND WRITING WITH MIMI WAS BORN!
